Follow Sairah Mahmud, MBA student at @bccarrollschool, as she takes us along with her on her vacation to Antigua, Guatemala with her BC classmates! . . [1/5] Hi everyone! I'm Sairah Mahmud, a second-year MBA from Boston College. Before my MBA I worked in Project Management at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and this past summer I was a Finance Intern at Pfizer in New York City. I will be returning there full-time after graduation as a Finance Rotational Senior Analyst. This winter break some of my classmates and I went to Guatemala and I'm excited to share with you photos from my trip! . . [2/5] The first city we explored was Antigua, Guatemala. The town is know for its Spanish colonial buildings, the active volcanos, and the marketplaces filled with beautiful textiles. Here are a few of things I bought at the local marketplace. We were all able to learn about the local businesses and we fell in the love with the art. . . [3/5] Antigua is surrounded by active volcanoes and we were able to hike one! Here is our group with our guides almost to the top of Pacaya. It is 23,000 years old and lasted erupted in 2015. We were able to get so close to the top we could feel the heat from the lava. Teamwork is vital to success at BC and we really enjoyed finishing the hike together. . . [4/5] The last few days in Guatemala were spent at the beach. Here are a few of my classmates admiring the Mahi-mahi they caught fishing! Chapman Leedy (center) is one of my classmates who is originally from Florida and interned at the Federal Reserve in Boston this summer. . . [5/5] Here is a group of my classmates in our BC gear! This was our last day in Iztapa before heading back to Guatemala City. Our MBA class is filled with students from all over the world and we were lucky enough to have our classmate from Guatemala show us around his beautiful country. We are all missing the warm weather!
